To dream, to create...

There's something just a little bit calming about creating new pretties.

Whether it be stomach grumbling cos we all (probably just me, really) have to watch the kilojoule intake.. or a child that asks to get up from his 'rest' 5 minutes after he goes down... we all must have an escape! So then, gorgeous hair combs are born and eagerly await placement in the shop.

So vintage-y and pretty!

In other news, Homelife and Typo deemed me worthy to be a winner in their Crafty Christmas Competition, after I entered my Christmas Advent Calendar, using my baby pegs and some very cute brown paper bags filled with goodies for Little Man. So now I'm off to window shop to see what awesomeness I can pick out for myself!

Welcome to my escape.

New Year, One Word...

I can't say that I have ever followed through on New Year's resolutions.

You can say you'll diet, you'll exercise, you'll laugh more, you'll .. whatever. Have you ever gone 365 days following through on that resolution? Yeh, me neither.

So, in light of all this, stumbling across OneWord365.com gave me a little bit of hope. Here's a novel idea: How about I just focus on one word for the whole of the year? Strive to keep it in the forefront of my thoughts, as I just do normal life.

So, what word? Something that wasn't too cliche, too mundane, too hard to achieve (forgive me, its my first time ;).. And there it was:

Perfect.

Let's be intentional. Let's strive to persevere. Let's journey together.

Happy New Year!

A few of my favourite things...

Everyone needs to have a wish list, I think. One of those lists that you peruse every now and again, maybe even to tick one off because you deserve a well-earned treat.

Well, I confess that I am a big huge Etsy browser. I love me a good wish list. So, a list... and points for who guesses what my preferred colour is at the moment ;)

Now I'm off to go do some more hand-made window shopping.

Desk envy and such things...

Yes, that may or may not have been my desk area at one stage this year... and it may or may not be worse than that right now.

I have come to the conclusion that creative thinking requires a functional, pretty, organised work space. So, yes, I have a bit of desk envy.

Its no wonder I turned to Pinterest to see what ideas I might be able to come up with. Ah the pretties.

1. 2. 3. 4.

Check out my Pinterest board to see some more lovely office spaces and, hopefully I'll be back soon with a little office update myself!

PS. If you're in need of an update for your own office, TYPO is holding a 'desk envy' competition where you can win 1 of 3 desk rescue packs valued at over $600 each. Enter here!

Should we talk about Christmas?

Lets talk about Christmas.

I know there's big stigma in talking about Christmas & the festive season too early. I have to admit, I've done much talking against it myself.  The age-old question, when does one put up the tree and the decorations? When shall I start purchasing gifts? When do I send out the cards?

Which brings me to: When, as a store owner, is it ok to start selling 'Christmas stamped' items?

Fully aware that I may need to shield myself against the onslaught of 'nay'ers, I believe the time has come. Not too late, not too early... November is the time.

The time to buy pretty accessories to give as gifts.
The time to find those cute little earrings you just have to wear to Christmas lunch.
The time to buy some beautiful wrapping and gift cards to wrap those equally gorgeous gifts.

The time has come, my lovelies. Christmas is here.
